Waist hip ratio (whr) is a tool to assess distribution of body fat. It looks at the relationship between the circumference measurements of your waist and hips and can be used as a measurement of your health. Whr is calculated by dividing your waist circumference by your hip circumference.
According to the world health organization, a waist-to-hip ratio greater than 1.0 is indicative of a higher than normal risk of developing heart disease. A healthy whr for women is under, .85 and a healthy whr for men is .90 or less.
